Crazy Eight

I've been tagged by Abby to do a Crazy Eight meme. I think I'll do it, because I never get to talk about myself!

I have to post these rules before I give you the facts:

Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
People who are tagged need to write their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.
At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
EIGHT RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME:

1. I was raised as a Pentecostal. I was not allowed to wear pants, cut my hair, wear make-up or jewelry, watch television, go bowling, go to the movies, listen to rock-and-roll (etc...) as a child. I was never very good at it.

2. John and I were co-valedictorians of our high school graduating class. We were also voted "cutest couple." I don't tell many people that...it's kind of embarrassing, but really quite funny! So now you know!

3. Beans are one of my favorite foods. I love all kinds of beans, refried beans, kidney beans, bean soup, black beans, green beans... Much to my husband's dismay.

4. I got teased a lot in school because of my name. "Billie's a boy's name!" "Billy goat." "Billy boy." That sort of thing. I used to hate my name and told people it was short for Belinda. It's really not short for anything, it's just Billie. I was the third girl and was named after my father. I've grown to love it.

5. We love to travel. John and I went to the Costa Del Sol in Spain for our honeymoon. We stayed in a little village called Arroyo de la Miel, where almost no one spoke English. I took 6 years of Spanish in school, but found that I actually couldn't speak a lick of it. By the end of the second week I was catching on a bit, but by then it was time to come home! We have also been to Amsterdam, Italy, Austria, and Germany together. We really love Europe. It's harder to travel with the girls, but we will. There are a lot of places in th US that we still haven't explored. I really want to do some of the National Parks as a family.

6. John and I have been a couple for almost 14 years. Our wedding anniversary is July 24th, and we will have been married for 9 years. Next year, for our 10th anniversary we are going to take a big trip without the girls. We are considering Hawaii, Australia, or London and Paris. I had thought about doing an all-inclusive resort, where we could just relax, but I'm not sure that's our thing. We really like to explore and go on adventures. You can only drink so many Mai Tai's on the beach.

7. I just found out that my Mirena IUD is causing ovarian cysts. I'm thinking about having it taken out, but I HATE birth control and I don't know what else I would try. Hormones suck.

8. I don't know if I would/could/should have anymore kids, but I do have their names picked out. I have a baby name obsession. When I look at the kids I have I really think I should try for more. At least they would be cute!

I can't think of eight people to tag who might actually want to do it and haven't already, so I am going to tag a few of the people I know IRL:

Kim
Donnie
Kristin

I really loved reading these and getting to learn more about you since it's usually just your cute girls on the blog. So you guys were both the valedictorians and the cutest couple huh? Too funny, I guess everyone voted right!

I'm jealous of all the places you've been to! Sounds like pretty soon you'll have another great trip to add. And sorry to hear about the ovarian cyst problem...I agree hormones do suck! I hope all ends up well for you soon with it.

Oh and for the last one... why not try for just one more...as you said it would be super cute and it already has a name waiting for it ;] You're super mom! lol

Love the pictures on this post and th ematching tie dye!

I was wondering if you were raised Pentacostal! I noticed in the pictures of your fabulous mom that she had the long hair and long skirt thing going. I am not Pentacostal, but I am from the south, so we have a lot of Pentacostal churches around.

I love hearing more about you and seeing the pics of your kiddos! I say go for one more - I am sure the girls would love having a little brother or sister to boss around/love on! Plus, you guys really do make beautiful kids! (Not that you asked for my opinion...) :)

I think you should have at LEAST two more!!! Four is a good number. I'm still waiting to meet Cooper!

You guys should go to Australia. We went for our 5th anniversary, traveling around the country. It was by no means a relaxing trip, but it was AMAZING!

You should definitely have more kids, the two you have are awesome little girls.

BTW, if I had been anywhere near the top of my class, I'd still be shouting it from the roof tops. WTG!

These were great! I was surprised at how long you and John have been married. It doesn't seem like the wedding was that long ago. Time really does fly by!

For birth control, I highly recommend NuvaRing. You put it in, and take it out 3 weeks later, wait a week, and put a new one in. Nice and easy.

Billie,

Great list!

You guys really are the cutest couple, and I am not in the least surprised that you are also the smartest couple.

My vote is for London and Paris for a trip. Visit Amsterdam, too, if you can. The museums are terrific, I found it a million times more reasonable than almost anywhere else in Western Europe (at least this is true ten years ago back when the dollar was a wee bit stronger) and it's an easy overnight train from or to Paris. Just don't get stuck in a rail strike (I did, because I wasn't paying attention to the Dutch news when I was in Paris, and ended up missing my flight home but taking a very neat ride with some very nice Dutch people who rented a van and gave us a lift back to the city from the border...)

Thanks for playing along...

I love your blog and hearing about Holland and Eden. If you don't like birth control, you should look into www.creightonmodel.com. It was developed at Creighton University at a research institute there and is natural and 99% effective. It is also great for a couple's marriage- improves communication. My husband and I love it and it's easy too!

Hey Billie--my gyno also recommended the nuvaring thing too. It releases a teeny bit of hormones (not like the pill) and you can supposedly take them back to back so you only have 3 periods a year!

I am glad that two of you mentioned the NuvaRing. That is what my gyno recommended if I decide to have the Mirena removed. I think I probably will. I am in so much pain today!

Hello again,

Interesting list. I love that you are so open and honest. If you two like adventure vacations, you may want to do a tour of the Mayan Temples. It's a very physical and earthy vacation, rich in culture and plus there is a lot of sun. You can be in the jungle in the morning and spend the evening on the warm beaches of the Yucatan Peninsula. I bet you would love it. But wherever you go, enjoy a non-scheduled vacation. You deserve it after having to keep so many medical appointments. Best Wishes.

RE: The things people say...

I can't believe the things some people say! They must be out of their minds. Holland & Eden are fabulous and adorable!!! Not only that, but they have wonderful parents.

RE: Crazy Eight

Cool game! I'll have to pass this on!

Yikes! I was just about to get that IUD! Maybe I'll ask my doc about cysts - UGH...painfull. Hope you have a speedy recovery - are they going to aspirate or just let them pass?

I share the travel love - Bill and I have been to Italy, France, Spain, England, Ireland, and all over Mexico and the Caribbean. We've been TONS on places in the US too, so if you ever want to know of a good place to go just ask. My two faves are both Sans (Francisco and Antonio).

PS - Holland and Eden are fab names and anyone who says they are not are just jealous that they are so uncreative!!

It was nice to hear about you; I knew some things but I didn't know others. I hope that you guys have more fabulous kids.
For one, you both are awesome loving parents and any child would be blessed to be apart of your family; two, Holland and Eden need some siblings to boss around; three, I would love to have more cute nieces and nephews with really cool names.
