You know those blue skies I was talking about? The sunrises and sunsets? The sand slipping through my fingers? The breeze on my face?
We have had some of those around here lately.

Over the weekend Eden was playing under my bed (her idea, not mine) and doing such great tummy time, pushing up on her arms so effortlessly. Then, during PT on Monday she did the very best floor sitting she has ever done, using a SWASH orthoses.
Today she was doing so well sitting on the floor independently with her legs crossed and propping with her hands. She was really sitting there. Holding herself up and weight bearing with her arms.

This is all pretty awesome to me. I was beginning to imagine it might never come.
It's hard sometimes, balancing vicariously in that place where you don't want to give up hope, but you are so afraid to hope.
Well, here we are. Eden is prop sitting on the floor for a good minute at a time completely on her own, and for up to 15 minutes with a little support from the SWASH. There is nowhere to go but forward.
How's that for a nice fresh breeze?

Gosh. I know what you mean. I thought for certain that my child was blind. I knew it. But he's looking around so much now that I have to tell the doctors that he has vision field loss. You get so depressed and then. . .a break through. These kids are definitely tougher than we are.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmm....I can feel that breeze all the way up here in Alaska. Feels wonderful. Much love, Jess
ReplyDeleteWay to go Eden! Glad to hear the weather is pleasant again :)
ReplyDeleteBlue Sky. Bright Sun. Breeze.

And we have Eden.
Wishing you more blue skies and warm breezes. So proud of Eden, she's continues to amaze me with her perseverance and determination!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a way with words, Billie. It is truly a gift.
That's WONDERFUL! What an amazing girl.
ReplyDeleteWe are still working on sitting with Edwin, (he still only prop sits) and you're right...it's on their own time. Sometimes progress is so slow, but what a beautiful breeze in your face when they do something new!
Congrats!
Hurrah! You made my day! Hugs to the whole family!

I check your page every day. Eden reminds me of what my Tyse is going to be like. When I saw her on her tummy, I had tears in my eyes. I coudln't believe. Wow! Congratulations! I can't wait for that day to come when I see Tyse doing that. Reading your page gives me hope.
ReplyDeleteSeeing the girls make progress, puts a glimmer of hope into everyone's hearts:) So nice to hear such great news!
ReplyDeleteHi Billie... Yah for Eden! May upcoming days be filled with sunshine.
ReplyDeleteYou do realize that you have THE cutest children's photos I've ever seen? Not just because the subjects are so adorable... but because their happiness, personality and love just leaps off the page.
It's so clear how much love is in your family.
Way to go Eden. What an amazing little girl. You can see how proud she is of herself.
ReplyDeleteOh what a breeze it is! Eden looks so proud of herself under your bed and sitting up. Just as she should be. Words just can't express the happiness I'm feeling right now for that breath of fresh air that finally came after so much hard work and determination.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Eden!!! Keep up the great work big girl :)
Yay Eden! That is awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty sitting, Eden!
ReplyDeleteHooray Eden!!!
ReplyDeleteKris
WOO HOO!! You GO girl!!
ReplyDeleteYay, Eden!!!!
ReplyDeleteBillie, I'm so happy for you, too!!!
Try not to be too afraid of hope-- in other words, don't let it use you. Try to use it instead. Hope is not poison, and it isn't naive. I believe that hope is about something fiercer.
Oh, that's so HUGE! And you're right, forward you will go. Sometimes quickly, and some times slowly. But it's happening and she's doing great. So glad you got your fresh warm breeze!
ReplyDeleteGo girl(s)! So excited for both of you. She looks like she is loving that independence too. These kids of ours, on their own schedules and making up the rules as they go. I guess it is their way of making sure that we don't miss anything : )
ReplyDeleteMy smile is really big right now! You all amaze me.
ReplyDeleteGreat news and pics! I love Eden's cute toes in the 3rd pic.
ReplyDeleteXO Amy

ReplyDeleteWhat a woman! Congrats Eden.
ReplyDeleteHooray for Eden, and I'm so happy for your happiness, Billie.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
Kendra
Now that feel great! I even got a few of those joyful tears watching Eden. She is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you all. Eden and Holland are amazing!
ReplyDeleteWishing you many more days filled with sunshine, cool breezes and sand between you toes!
The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.
